Ricardo Vilar MASTERSMITH

Ricardo Vilar's journey in the world of bladesmithing is a testament to his relentless passion, skill, and dedication to creating tools that are both works of art and vital instruments for those who protect and serve. Born in Brazil, Ricardo’s fascination with knives began in his youth as a boy scout. Unable to acquire the knives he desired, he took it upon himself to learn the craft, leading to the start of a remarkable career in 1993.

His early work focused on stock removal knives, but in 2000, he transitioned to forging, a move that would define his signature style. His knives, forged from carbon steel, including intricate Damascus patterns, are known for their unparalleled quality and precision.

Ricardo's reputation as a master bladesmith expanded internationally. In 2001, he co-organized the Jerry Fisk North American Cutlery Seminar at his workshop, marking the beginning of his influence on the global stage. By 2003, he was regularly exhibiting at premier knife shows in the United States, including the Blade Show in Atlanta and an annual exhibition in Arkansas. In Brazil, he became a fixture at the most important national events.
